Scam Alert: Stay Away From Fake Websites of SunCrypto, 100’s of Websites Found…

SunCrypto’s support team recently encountered several complaints from users who had fallen victim to fake websites of SunCrypto. Scroll down to learn how to avoid these scams.

The rise of online scams is an unfortunate reality in today’s digital age, and cryptocurrency platforms are prime targets for fraudsters. One such alarming case involves scammers creating fake websites for SunCrypto, a leading cryptocurrency exchange in India, to deceive unsuspecting citizens.

This article aims to educate you on how these scams work, how you can protect yourself, and the actions SunCrypto has taken to combat these fraudulent activities.

Understanding the Scam: How Fraudsters Operate Via Fake Websites

SunCrypto’s support team recently encountered several complaints from users who had fallen victim to these scams. Intriguingly, registered SunCrypto users did not make these complaints, indicating that the scammers were targeting unregistered and vulnerable individuals.

These fraudsters create fake websites and URLs that resemble the official SunCrypto platform. The websites are so similar that they can easily deceive an unsuspecting user into believing they are legitimate.

The scam typically begins when the fraudster contacts the victim via email, Telegram, or WhatsApp, pretending to be an employee or member of SunCrypto. To establish credibility, they present the victim with seemingly authentic documents, including a GST number.

Building Trust: The Initial Deception

In today’s digital era, information such as official documents and GST numbers can easily be accessed online. Fraudsters leverage this data to gain the victim’s trust. Once trust is established, the fraudster directs the victim to register on the fake SunCrypto website.

After the victim registers, the scam moves to the next phase. The fraudster instructs the victim to complete simple tasks, such as posting Google reviews, in exchange for a small amount of money. This amount is transferred to the victim’s fake SunCrypto account. When the victim sees 1,000-2,000 rupees in their account, they are convinced that the website is genuine because they received money without any issues.

The Bigger Scam: Exploiting the Victim’s Trust

Once the initial trust is secured, the scammer moves in for the larger con. The victim is asked to transfer a more substantial sum, such as 10,000 rupees, with the promise of turning it into 25,000 within a week. Believing that the scammer has already delivered on their promises before, the victim transfers the money.

The fraudster then doubles the money in the victim’s fake account, further solidifying their trust. This cycle continues, with the victim being encouraged to transfer increasingly larger amounts, sometimes as much as 50,000 to 75,000 rupees. However, when the amount reaches a significant level, the scammer suddenly disappears, leaving the victim unable to contact them or access the fake website.

How to Protect Yourself from Fake Websites: Key Precautions

To prevent falling prey to these scams, it’s crucial to be aware of the following precautions:

▪️ Official Contact Channels: SunCrypto’s official team will never contact you via WhatsApp, Telegram, or email to offer money-doubling schemes. If you receive such offers, immediately contact SunCrypto’s helpline or email them at [email protected] to verify the authenticity of the offer.

▪️ Verify the URL: Always check the URL before accessing the SunCrypto website. The official domain is only suncrypto. in. Scammers often create URLs with minor spelling errors to trick users. For example, they might replace the letter ‘O’ with a zero. Always pay close attention to these details.

▪️ Stay Vigilant: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Do not fall for promises of easy money or high returns with minimal effort. Always double-check any offers or requests for money transfers.

Steps to Take If You’ve Been Scammed

If you’ve already fallen victim to this scam, it’s essential to act quickly to safeguard and recover your funds. Here are the steps you should take:

▪️ Contact SunCrypto Support: Immediately reach out to SunCrypto’s support team and provide them with all the information related to the scam. This includes chats, emails, and any other relevant details.

▪️ File a CyberCrime Complaint: Collect all relevant information, such as the account or UPI ID where the payment was made, and file a complaint with the CyberCrime department. The cyber team will trace your funds and freeze them to prevent further movement.
